WFR seeks to encourage and facilitate communication among researchers and practitioners in all related fields and from all geographic, social, political, and economic sectors. It is also intended to promote public understanding and education in the methods and use of futures research. The concern of the editors is thus not only with specific techniques and planning tools; we also wish to include analyses of the role of futures research in the larger context of decision-making. 
In addition to full-length articles, WFR will publish, from time to time, responsible reactions to articles and the ideas presented in them; short notices from Editorial Board members; news items; reprints of pertinent classic papers; interviews with prominent futurists, and abstracts or more detailed reviews of selected new books and reports. Because it is not always possible to present all viewpoints within the confines of a single issue, we rely upon WFR readers to provide the necessary balance through their responses to controversial or one-sided material. 
In brief, it is our intention that this journal shall provide a forum for all who are professionally involved with the theory, methodology, practice, and use of futures research.

Die Datenbank enthält über 16.000 Firmeninformationen, die im Öffentlichkeitsregister seit 2004 veröffentlicht wurden.  
 
 
 
Das Handelsregister genießt öffentlichen Glauben. Es soll dazu beitragen die Rechtssicherheit im Handelsverkehr zu erhöhen.  
 
 
 
Ins Öffentlichkeitsregister eintragen werden Einzelfirmen, Vereine, Aktiengesellschaften, Gesellschaften mit beschränkter Haftung, Genossenschaften, Anstalten, Stiftungen, Kollektiv- bzw. Offene Gesellschaften, Kommanditgesellschaften, registrierte Treuunternehmen, Treuhandverhältnisse und Europäische Wirtschaftliche Interessenvereinigungen. 
 
Die Meldungen im Öffentlichkeitsregister werden nach Neueintragungen, Veränderungen, Berichtigungen, Nachträgen, Auflösungen, Löschungen und Hinweisen unterschieden. Immer enthalten sind der Firmenname, der Firmensitz, die Rechtsform, die Handelsregisternummer und das Datum der Eintragung.  
 
Bei Neueintragungen von Einzelfirmen, GmbHs, Treuhandunternehmen und Anstalten werden der Geschäftzweck, eingetragene Personen, die Zeichnungsberechtigten und das Statutendatum (nicht bei Einzelfirmen) angegeben. Falls es sich bei der neu eingetragenen Firma um eine Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung handelt, werden das Stammkapital, die Gesellschafter mit der Höhe ihrer Beteiligung und die Geschäftsführer benannt.  
 
Ergeben sich zu den für die Neueintragung genannten Punkten Änderungen, sind die Firmen verpflichtet Veränderungsmeldungen zu publizieren.  
 
Wenn über eine Firma ein Konkursverfahren eröffnet wird, veröffentlich das Öffentlichkeitsregister eine Meldung unter dem Stichwort "Auflösung". Ist das Konkursverfahren abgeschlossen wird eine Meldung unter dem Stichwort "Löschung" publiziert.  
 
Berichtigungs- bzw. Nachtragsmeldungen beinhalten Korrekturen bzw. Ergänzungen zu bereits veröffentlichter Handelsregistermeldungen. 
 
Unter dem Stichwort "Hinweis" publiziert das Öffentlichkeitsregister Meldungen, dass Firmen Ihre Jahresrechnung (Bilanz, Erfolgsrechnung und ggf. Anhang) eingereicht haben.
