Carding and drawing makes fibers parallel and straight. Basically, 2 fiber orientation measuring methods are used. The first method for measurement of fiber orientation in sliver, roving and yarn is by using optical tracer fibers, which is a direct method. In indirect measurement methods, such as Lindsley, modified Lindsley and Leon′teva, a few coefficients were derived to measure fiber orientation and parallelization. Roving strength depends on the amount of twist and arrangement of fibers in roving. Yarn quality and fiber migration depend on fiber arrangement and strength of roving.
