The wax cutin content in the kapok fiber is larger than that of cotton. It has a hollow tubular structure with external diameter of 16.5 - 2.4 [mu]m, internal diameter of 14.5 - 2.4 [mu]m, and length of 25 - 5 [mu]m. This indicates that 77 % of the fiber volume is lumen.
