I have commented on page 10/11 in this issue on the bare facts about the development of the man-made fiber industry in Europe (and North America). Here I would like to cover the same ground in a more personally reminiscent way. I joined the industry in 1965, when it was still hugely profitable. In 1962 CIRFS had held its world man-made fiber congress in London, patronized by HM the Queen, for which Snia had flown over a 40 strong choir.
